Description

Vas Hatham class

First produced: Mid 2260s. Retired: Late 2270s.

Crew: 150

Notes:

-"Bird of prey" stealth warship. Extremely powerful main weapon - plasma torpedo launcher.

-Limited in speed due to being fusion-powered and firing the plasma torpedo weapon required all of the ship's available power.

-Design issues led to a reduced service life.

D-7 class

First imported: Late 2260s. Retired: 2300s.

Crew: 480

Notes:

-Battlecruiser type. Fast, well armed and particularly effective with the addition of Romulan cloaking technology.

-A Klingon design exported to the Romulan Empire during the 2260s. The Klingons received cloaking technology in return.

-First ship used by Romulans with a matter/antimatter power source.

Keras class

First produced: Early 2290s. Retired: 2330s.

Crew: 690

Notes:

-Romulan design initially developed during the 2260s period of Klingon/Romulan co-operation.

-When the alliance ended the Klingon technical advisors left and the Romulans substantially enlarged the design.

-As a heavy cruiser it was the first to be referred to as a "warbird" rather than a bird of prey.

Horo class

First produced: 2300s. Retired: 2350s.

Crew: 775

Notes:

-Battleship type. Completely Romulan in design.

-A heavily armed cruiser but in common with many Romulan designs it lacked speed and manoeuvrability.

V'Melak class

First produced: Early 2340s. Retired: 2370s.

Crew: 950

Notes:

-Battlecruiser type. Fastest Romulan design constucted at the time but still slightly slower than comparable Federation starships.

-At least four warbirds were responsible for the attack on Narendra III and the destruction of the Enterprise-C.

D'Deridex class

First produced: Early 2360s

Crew: 1500

Notes:

-Battleship type. Much larger design which initially began as a scaling up of the V'Melak class.

-Much larger than contemporary Federation starships in scale although somewhat slower and a lot less manoeuvrable.

-High-energy weapons but with a relatively low rate-of-fire in comparison to a Galaxy-class starship.

Mogai-Norexan class

First produced: Late 2370s

Crew: 870

Notes:

-Designed to address the shortcomings that had afflicted Romulans vessels since the 23rd century- speed and manoeuvrability.

-Marked a change in design theory from the large battleship concept to an all-round heavy cruiser vessel.

-Designed for use in the Dominion War, the first ships were not delivered until several months after the Dominion surrender.

Very Nice.

One thing what you call the "Mogai-Norexan", it should be "Valdore", here is a quote from the designer John Eaves: "It was always called the Valdore Class in what we were doing! and this was the signature Valdore! As far as I know, it had no other class name."

Frankly I have NO idea where those two other names came from but neither are official, "Norexan" is actually the name of an individual vessel, and "Mogai" is a Klingon name!
